The BJP has postponed Narendra Modi's December 21 rally in Jagraon, Punjab, due to bad weather, party sources said on Tuesday.
"Modi's Jagraon rally has been cancelled due to bad weather. The rally will now be organised in February next year. A final date for the rally will be announced after deliberations with alliance partner Shiromani Akali Dal," said Kamal Sharma, president, Punjab BJP.
Preparations for the rally ware in full swing in Jagraon and security arrangements had been stepped up to avoid any untoward incident.
Sources said there were alerts that Sikhs and Indian Mujahidin militants could target the rally.
The Punjab government had taken all possible steps to make Modi's December 21 rally a big success.
